It’s time to celebrate America’s birthday, and we have several ways to enjoy the celebrations this July Fourth. Whether it’s watching fireworks at Great Dunes Park or strolling through the Sunshine Festival at the Pier Village on St. Simons Island, there’s something red, white, and blue for everyone. 

JEKYLL ISLAND 

July 4

Independence Day Parade

9 a.m. 

National Historic Landmark District 

Celebrate America’s birthday with an old-fashioned patriotic parade through the Historic District. All are invited to decorate their bikes, golf carts, strollers, pets, and themselves to join the fun. Prizes will be given at the end of the parade.

Fireworks

After sunset, around 9 p.m. 

Ocean side of the island

Jekyll will set off a fabulous display of fireworks right after sunset on July Fourth. Parking will be at Great Dunes Golf Course, located just a short walk from the beach where fireworks viewing is best. 

A note to visitors, there is no fee to watch the fireworks, but the Jekyll Island parking fee will increase by $4 for all daily and weekly parking passes used on the Fourth; annual passes are exempt. Details: jekyllisland.com/signatureevents 

July 5

Red, White & Bounce

Noon to 6 p.m. 

Beach Village

The Village Green will be bustling with fun activities, including water slides, bounce houses, sidewalk sales, and live music. 

July 6

Beach Village Music Series

5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Beach Village 

Enjoy the sounds of summer during the Beach Village Music Series featuring Lyn Avenue. Get there early to find a spot for your beach blanket or chair.

BRUNSWICK

July 4

Celebration and Fireworks

7 p.m. to dark

Mary Ross Waterfront Park

Enjoy free games, watermelon, and fireworks at Mary Ross Waterfront Park in the heart of Historic Downtown Brunswick. The festivities start at 7 p.m. with classic games of sack races, tug-of-wars, horseshoes, ball games, hula-hoop contests, and more. Then, around 9 p.m., fireworks will shoot over the waters of the East River and Oglethorpe Bay across from the park. Details: discoverbrunswick.com

First Friday

5 to 8 p.m.

Newcastle Street

Enjoy a patriotic First Friday as downtown businesses stay open late and bands play the night away. 

ST. SIMONS ISLAND

July 4

Sunshine Festival 5K

7 a.m.

Mallery Park 

The 5K race starts at 7:30 a.m., and the 1-mile fun run starts at 7 a.m. An award ceremony will take place at Mallery Park. Details: goldenislestrackclub.com

Sunshine Festival Golf Cart Parade

2:30 p.m.

Mallery Park

Golf carts decorated in the best display of red, white, and blue will parade down Mallery. 

Fireworks 

Around 9 p.m.

St. Simons Pier

A gorgeous fireworks display will start around 9 p.m. at the pier on St. Simons. Attendees are advised to arrive early to pick a spot on the lawns of the Casino or A.W. Jones Heritage Center.

Sunshine Festival’s 4th of July Arts and Crafts Show

Postell Park

Hosted by Brunswick Actors Theatre/SoGlo Gallery, the festival will transform Postell Park into an outdoor market with dozens of vendors on site. The show will take place every day, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Details: soglogallery.com
