It’s time to celebrate America’s birthday, and we have several ways to enjoy the celebrations this July Fourth. Whether it’s watching fireworks at Great Dunes Park or strolling through the Sunshine Festival at the Pier Village on St. Simons Island, there’s something red, white, and blue for everyone.
Independence Day Parade
National Historic Landmark District
Celebrate America’s birthday with an old-fashioned patriotic parade through the Historic District. All are invited to decorate their bikes, golf carts, strollers, pets, and themselves to join the fun. Prizes will be given at the end of the parade.
After sunset, around 9 p.m.
Ocean side of the island
Jekyll will set off a fabulous display of fireworks right after sunset on July Fourth. Parking will be at Great Dunes Golf Course, located just a short walk from the beach where fireworks viewing is best.
A note to visitors, there is no fee to watch the fireworks, but the Jekyll Island parking fee will increase by $4 for all daily and weekly parking passes used on the Fourth; annual passes are exempt. Details: jekyllisland.com/signatureevents
